The all-new 2019 Infiniti QX50 has been taken the luxury compact utility vehicle segment by storm since arriving on the market late last year. Named the best in its segment by the Automotive Journalists Association of Canada, the new Infiniti QX50 was also named to Wards’ Top 10 Engines List and Top 10 Interiors List.
There’s no question that the 2019 Infiniti QX50 has a lot to offer its eventual owner. The most impressive feature is certainly the new VC-T engine which is a 2.0-litre, turbocharged four-cylinder which has the ability to vary its compression ratio.
In doing so, the new VC-T engine has the ability to provide either incredible fuel economy or stand out performance. It’s the only engine in the world that can modify its compression ratio and given that the latter plays a direct role in determining either performance or fuel economy, it’s the only engine in the world that can provide more or less of both to adapt to the driver’s needs.
The Infiniti QX50 offers essentially the power of a V6 with the fuel economy numbers of a four-cylinder engine. Its 2.0-litre, four-cylinder delivers 268 horsepower while also offering a fuel economy rating of just 7.8 litres per 100 kilometres. A range of technologies is offered including ProPILOT Assist and Direct Adaptive Steering.
